Valletta is Malta's small fortified capital on a peninsula between two harbours. It is a UNESCO World Heritage city you walk, not a single ticketed gate. St John's Co-Cathedral, the Grand Master's Palace, and the Upper Barrakka Gardens are the usual indoor and viewpoint stops.

No. Mdina is the old inland capital. Valletta was founded in the 16th century by the Knights.

Many ships use Valletta / Grand Harbour. The walk up to the city is short; check your terminal map.
